This week's manly quote:
"I hope that in this year to come, you make mistakes. Because if you are making mistakes, then you are making new things, trying new things, learning, living, pushing yourself, changing yourself, changing your world. You’re doing things you’ve never done before, and more importantly, you’re doing something.”
- Neil Gaiman
Gents! Today marks three days into the new year which means you've probably heard the phrase "New year, new me!" roughly 37 million times.
We have a different suggestion: "New year, more me."
The changing calendar year gives us an extra layer of external motivation/justification for making changes in our own lives. This year, instead of reinventing yourself as the "new you," what would happen if we all committed to being more ourselves?
This means lessening all the ways we keep ourselves small. Do you hesitate to speak up when you are unsure how your words will land? Resist asking for help? Do you limit how you celebrate yourself after doing something you are genuinely proud of? Consider taking up more space this year! Check in with yourself, get clear on what is important to you, and then be bold with living aligned with those values.
May this be the year we remember how powerful and valuable we already are.
May this year be one not of becoming a better/different version of yourself but letting who you really are unfold and be more visible.
Look forward to seeing your beautiful, unfolding selves tonight at our weekly men's circle! Just click that button above at 6:30pm and you will be magically transported into a space filled with accepting, loving men.
Happy new year, everyone.
